It’s over for World Series champion Matt Williams and his wife, Erika Monroe.
Monroe, a former news anchor, has filed for divorce from the 57-year-old Williams after more than two decades of marriage, citing “irreconcilable differences,” TMZ reported Thursday.
She is also seeking spousal support, according to the report.
Williams, who currently serves as the third base coach of the San Diego Padres, wed Monroe in July 2003 and they share one daughter.
Prior to Monroe, Williams had been married twice before.
In a 2014 interview with The Washington Post, Monroe opened up about the early days of their romance after the two crossed paths at an event.
“Matt was persistent,” said Monroe, who did not want to date an athlete.
“And we ended up finally, after a few months, going on a date. After that, it was over. It just took getting to that table.”
At one point in time, the pair hosted a pre-show for the Arizona Diamondbacks, the last team Williams played for professionally before his retirement in 2003.
A five-time MLB All-Star, Williams tallied 378 home runs throughout his MLB career, which began in 1987 as a member of the San Francisco Giants.
He spent the 1997 season in Cleveland following a trade before joining the Diamondbacks for their inaugural season in 1998.
Williams won a World Series with the Diamondbacks in 2001. He hit .269 with one homer and seven RBIs in the seven-game triumph over the Yankees.
He later transitioned into coaching and was named manager of the Washington Nationals in October 2013.
Williams coached the team to an NL East division title in 2014 and the NL’s best record, and won Manager of the Year.
He was let go following the 2015 season after the Nationals imploded down the stretch and failed to reach the postseason.
Williams joined the Padres’ coaching staff before the 2022 season.
