‘They turn on you quick’

Bills wide receiver Stefon Diggs found himself the center of a controversy Wednesday when a video went viral on social media that showed team reporter Maddy Glab slamming the three-time Pro Bowler.

Wednesday on X, formerly known as Twitter, Trevon Diggs — Stefon’s younger brother and a cornerback for the Dallas Cowboys — posted a response to the video: “Tuh! They turn on you so quick. Gotta get bro somewhere safe.”

In the now-viral video, Glab, who was waiting for media availability with the receiver, is heard saying, “There’s no control over Stefon Diggs. Dude’s gonna do what he wants to do. He’ll look in my face and say, ‘F you.’ How he treats everybody.”

Glab posted an apology for the incident.

“I want to take ownership for what I said today. I am very sorry for what I said and meant no ill will,” she said. “I respect the hell out of Stefon Diggs, and he has been one of my favorite players to cover. He has great character and treats us media with lots of respect.

“He takes time out of his day to talk to us, which he doesn’t have to do. For context, media was waiting for players to come out for press conferences when a reporter joking told me to go get Stefon Diggs. I said I don’t have control over him – Stef marches to the beat of his own drum and I love that about him.”

The 29-year-old All-Pro has been linked to several controversies recently, including a rumored falling out with quarterback Josh Allen following January’s playoff loss (which both players deny), skipping a mandatory minicamp workout in June, and, most recently, getting called out by Hall of Famer Michael Irvin after the Bills’ 22-16 overtime loss to the Jets Monday.

Irvin used his appearance on “Undisputed” to school Diggs for looking at Allen and touching his head, which the former Cowboys Pro Bowler felt was unfair treatment toward the signal-caller, who struggled in the game, throwing three interceptions.

“Stop telling that man: ‘Be smart, be smart,’ because you’re telling everybody else, ‘He’s dumb, he’s dumb, he’s dumb.’ Stop doing that,” Irvin said.

On “The Voncast” with Von Miller on Wednesday, Diggs responded to the former standout receiver and said he tells just about everyone on the Bills’ offense the same thing, not just Allen.

“I say this to the quarterback, I say this to the running backs, I say this to the receivers, to the o-line,” Diggs said. “When you see me pointing to my head, I say let’s play smart. … Some stuff is worth conversation, other stuff is like, alright, alright, alright.”

We’ll find out Sunday if things are “alright” when the Bills, who entered the season with Super Bowl aspirations, play host to the Las Vegas Raiders.
