The Repair Shop’s Jay Blades issues apology after cancelling appearance | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

Jay Blades issued an apology on Thursday after he cancelled his appearance at Hay Festival. The Repair Shop star, who is currently taking a break from the BBC series, was due to speak to journalist Sarfraz Manzoor at the Welsh Literary Festival.

Jay was due to discuss his new book Life Lessons: Wisdom And Wit From Life’s Ups And Downs, which reflects on his career and shares inspirational words for making the best of life.

A statement from his team read: ‘We wanted to confirm that as Jay Blades continues to take time out, he won’t be attending the session as advertised at this year’s Hay Festival. We’re sorry for any inconvenience or disappointment that this may have caused and we hope you enjoy the rest of the festival.”

This came after the star suffered a huge family loss, and also the recent split from his wife. The festival confirmed that ticket holders will be refunded in light of the star not attending.

In a social media post, he said he was taking time off to “take stock and just relax'” but confirmed he would be “back soon.” One week later, his wife Lisa Zbozen announced the end of their short-lived marriage and posted a lengthy message to her social media followers online.

Earlier this month, Lisa reflected on her split from Jay and said it was still “really raw”.

She wrote in an Instagram post: “I probably should be really angry but I’m just incredibly sad about the whole thing right now. I don’t think I’ve ever cried so much.”

Before adding, she lived in a spare room with just her essentials. Lisa signed off the post: “A very broken. Lisa-Marie.”

After their split, Jay said that he was taking some time away from social media and TV appearances.
