Supacell fans still fuming over reason the finale ‘doesn’t make sense’ | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

Supacell made a huge impact when it launched on Netflix at the end of June.

Viewers around the world are on tenterhooks to find out what happens to Michael Lasaki (played by Tosin Cole) after he was forced to say goodbye to his fiancée Dionne Ofori (Adelayo Adedayo).

In a devastating twist of events, Michael turns back time to take on Krazy (Ghetts), only for him to use his final moments to shoot Dionne through the windshield of the car she thought she was safe inside.

Later, Michael rejoins his crew of other superpowered friends to hatch a plan to take their revenge in the future.

While the six-part series has proved to be a hit amongst viewers, many of them were left baffled as to why Michael was unable to turn back time again to ensure Dionne’s survival.

One particularly frustrated fan posted on Reddit: “Can someone explain to me HOW THE HELL D GETTING SHOT SUDDENLY AFFECTS HOW FAR BACK MIKE CAN TRAVEL TO?!?!?!?!?”

A number of details about Dionne’s tragic fate don’t seem to add up.

For example, a future Michael is able to go back in time earlier in the series to warn his younger self that Dionne will die on July 9 unless he does something about it.

If his abilities allow him to travel back that far, why can’t he reverse time again to ensure his fiancée is clear of Krazy’s gunfire?

“This show just p***ed me off,” the post continued. “If the powers come from the sickle cell trait and she’s literally a normal person with no sickle cell anything, her death shouldn’t all of a sudden affect how far back he can travel in time…

“WHEN HE’S LITERALLY TRAVELLED TO AFTER HER DEATH, BACK TO BEFORE HER DEATH ALREADY!!!! Am I missing something????”

Other fans have chimed in to try and explain the strange plot hole, but a conclusive answer hasn’t been reached just yet.

“Good question. I’d suggest that Michael’s not yet able to control his ability to undo time,” one viewer replied.

“He didn’t do it on purpose the first time, when Tazer killed him. And he didn’t do it on purpose when he returned after traveling to the future.

“To wit: If it was possible, bearded and locked-up Michael from 6 months in the future would have undone time and stopped all of it from happening.

“Not a definitive answer, but it’s one that I can live with.” Viewers may have to learn to live with this answer as well, that is unless a second season is released and clears up these complaints.

Supacell is available to stream on Netflix.
