Sunday Brunch tension as Dermot O’Leary calls out hosts | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

This Morning host Dermot O’Leary gave Sunday Brunch presenters Simon Rimmer and Tim Lovejoy a stern telling off as he appeared on Sunday’s (May 19) episode.

As the pair spoke to Dermot about hosting the ITV magazine show, Dermot held up a piece of lime as he said on behalf of fellow guest and actor Kiell Smith-Bynoe: “By the way, I always feel very welcome on this show… can we talk about this? This poor guy, he said he hates lemon and limes… do you want him to come back? Poor guy, it’s a lime, he said he doesn’t like limes.”

Simon and Tim were left speechless as Kiell chimed in: “Seven times I’ve been here,” as a dumbfounded Simon asked: “No,” to which Kiell asked: “Huh?”

He then said: “The rice is very nice,” as he seemingly decided to let them off the hook.

Tim quickly said: “But everything has got lemon and lime in it,” to which Kiell agreed: “I know! It’s difficult. It’s like being scared of pigeons which I also am, it stops you getting about.”

A stunned Simon and Tim asked: “Why are you scared of pigeons,” as Kiell simply replied: “Look at them!”

Meanwhile, Dermot opened up about working with ITV presenter Alison Hammond on This Morning, as the pair host the Friday shows together.

Dermot said it was “like working with your sister”, as he gushed over “how fun” it was to be around her, before adding that he wakes up on a Friday “and can’t wait to work with her”.

He also admitted he and Alison never get any notice about who they will be interviewing on the show, and they only find out the day before when they do the trailer for the next day.

Dermot said: “So I’ll say it, and then think ‘Oh am I interviewing them? That’s exciting,” as he told Simon and Tim how hard-working the This Morning team are behind the scenes.

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV1.
