Sum 41’s Deryck Whibley spends ‘entire night in the ER’ after scare | Celebrity News | Showbiz & TV

Deryck Whibley, Sum 41’s lead vocalist, was admitted to hospital due to pneumonia, according to his wife, Ariana Cooper Whibley.

Whibley, 43, and Cooper, 32, had planned to celebrate their eight-year wedding anniversary in Chicago.

Instead, a photo shared by Ariana on Instagram showed the Canadian musician being transported into an ambulance.

The couple, parents to son Lydon Idby, three, and daughter Quentin Arlo, six months, faced an anxious wait as doctors have indicated a potential risk of heart failure for Whibley due to the strain on his heart.

“This isn’t our first time witnessing such a scenario, but it’s hard seeing him in a hospital bed again,” Cooper stated on social media.

This incident eerily echoes Whibley’s health scare in 2014 when he collapsed at his home due to liver and kidney failure, resulting from alcohol abuse.

Whibley subsequently entered a medically induced coma for detoxification.

This episode marked the beginning of his journey to sobriety and better health.

In light of these experiences, both Whibley and Ariana decided to pursue their sobriety together.

Sum 41, which Whibley has been a part of since 1996, recently announced its disbandment after the launch of their latest album and following their ongoing global tour.

Their concluding tour around the US came to an end on September 3.

Despite the separation, the group is scheduled to perform in Las Vegas next month and has its final show lined up in Nanterre, France, on September 23, 2024.
