Strictly star Joanne Clifton left ‘stranded and homeless’ for a week | Celebrity News | Showbiz & TV

Joanne Clifton claimed she was left “stranded and homeless” after booking accommodation with a travel website.

The former Strictly Come Dancing star took to X, formerly Twitter, and alleged she had a “terrible experience” with Booking.com.

Taking to the micro-blogging site today, she fumed: “Terrible experience with @bookingcom.

“5 of us stranded and homeless for the week in Oxford. Stood out in the rain after our opening night with no one answering from the call centre. Eventually, when answered, the person didn’t believe we couldn’t get in.”(sic)

The travel website reacted to her post, saying: “Hello Joanne, we regret to hear about your experience with our customer service team. They normally do their best to help.”

They added they will try to resolve the situation as a matter of urgency.

Representatives for Booking.com told Express.co.uk: “We take any complaint seriously and are currently looking into the details raised.”

Joanne, 39, is currently starring as Princess Fiona in Shrek: The Musical.

The full cast are touring the UK with their latest show being held at New Theatre, Oxford.

Speaking about her role, Joanne recently told Heart: “I’ve wanted to do it for years. I did audition for a tour of it, one of the other times it’s been out, and I didn’t get it – and I’m a competitive person!

“As soon as this tour was announced I hounded people to get an audition, to the point of being really annoying, with my agent, with the producers, with the director. Because I think I annoyed them so much they bought me in.

“I got the role in September (2022) and so I’ve waited all this time!”

Express.co.uk approached Joanne Clifton’s representatives for comment.
