Saturday Kitchen favourite speaks out after outfit mocked by Lenny Henry live on show | Celebrity News | Showbiz & TV

Helen McGinn’s green boiler suit was mercilessly mocked by special guest Lenny Henry, as he sang the Ghostbusters theme tune to her on Saturday Kitchen this weekend.

The star, well-known for running the Knackered Mother’s Wine Club burst into laughter as she enjoyed the light-hearted moment – and took to Instagram afterwards to joke about it.

It had all begun when host Matt Tebbutt had exclaimed: “Loving the jumpsuit!” in reference to the khaki green number she was modelling on the show.

Mischievous Lenny instantly launched into a cry of: “If there’s something strange – who’re you gonna call?”, mimicking the Ghostbusters theme tune.

The next line of the song follows: “If there’s something weird and it don’t look good…” but Lenny stopped short of singing that part of the song.

Turning to him, a chuckling Helen exclaimed: “Do you know, I knew I was gonna have trouble from you, but I was not expecting that, Lenny Henry!”

The 65-year-old comic then redeemed himself by declaring to her: “You look absolutely fab!”

Taking to Instagram in the aftermath of the mirthful moment, she wrote: “I was not expecting that, Sir Lenny Henry!”

Punctuating her point with tears of laughter emojis and even a ghost emoji, she added: “Genuinely loved every minute of yesterday’s show, especially this one.”

Then she addressed her 106,000 followers to tell them: “In fact turns out a lot of you loved the jumpsuit! Thank you for your lovely messages and for those asking it’s an oldie but a goodie from @wyselondon.”

Typically, one of the brand’s jumpsuits will cost buyers around £195, with prices varying depending on the design.

In another post made yesterday, Helen shared a photo of herself with Matt and her fellow studio guests, quipping: “Fyi I’m taking Lenny singing Ghostbusters to me in my boiler suit to the grave!”

She added: “Such a joy to meet Sir Lenny Henry today along with beautiful @nadiyajhussain & @donalskehan.

“We had the best ever fried potatoes from @saranshgoila and everything was held together effortlessly as ever by chop & chat OG @matt.tebbutt.”

It seemed that the object of Lenny’s jokes proved enormously popular with viewers, after countless followers quizzed her again on where her jumpsuit was from.

Meanwhile, earlier this week, Helen enjoyed a trip to the Isle of Wight to catch the Cowes Literary Festival, where she told followers she was hanging out “with all my books and wine”.

“They’ve even created a special cocktail for the occasion! Talk about island life!” she enthused.
