Ruth Langsford ‘threatened divorce’ as Eamonn Holmes’ ‘apology’ exposed before split | Celebrity News | Showbiz & TV

Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford stunned fans after it was announced the couple had decided to separate. A spokesperson confirmed the presenting duo, both 64, were to divorce after 14 years of marriage. It read: “Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes have confirmed their marriage is over and they are in the process of divorcing.”

Insiders said the couple drifted apart recently – and Eamonn has moved out of their Surrey mansion.

The former couple, who previously served as a double-act on This Morning, were known for their cheeky on-screen rows and couple banter. One memorable moment on-screen was when Eamonn revealed the most beautiful bride he had ever seen was not his wife.

The Loose Women presenter admitted she had a “bone to pick” with her other half during an episode of This Morning in 2017.

She told him: “Not so lovely to see you, I’ve got a bone to pick with you actually before we start!”

Ruth wagged an index finger at her husband and appeared irritated, as the shocked co-star looked concerned as he uttered: “Me?”

She continued: “Well, you didn’t think I was watching or I’d hear you this morning on ‘Good Morning Britain’.

“They were talking about Pippa Middleton’s wedding and beautiful brides – and what did you say?

“You said ‘Oh do you know the most beautiful bride? The most beautiful bride I’ve ever seen’. And I actually put my hairdryer down and was like…”

Ruth held her arms out wide as if she had won an award and beamed with a smug pride, only to reveal: “And you went, ‘Charlotte Hawkins’.”

In a surprising response, Eamonn stood by his statement and fought back: “But she was… Yes, but she’s not my wife!”

Ruth then quipped: “No, I might not be for very much longer!”

In an attempt to salvage the blunder, he continued: “But you know why I couldn’t talk about you, I would just get emotional and choke up because you were so, you were so…”

His description of Ruth was interrupted by a loud thud in the studio, when he said: “Look, Ken the cameraman’s just fallen over there because of that!”

It was announced in May that Ruth and Eamonn have separated and she has since taken the week off Loose Women following the news. It comes after it was reported “Eamonn was left blindsided” by the split.

Although the couple have split, sources have since revealed the former couple remain in contact.

A source told The Sun: “Eamonn and Ruth are still in contact, they speak every day. Although they’ve separated, they’re still sharing their dog, Maggie, at the moment and of course they have their son, Jack.”

Ruth has been seen out still wearing her ring, and Eamonn was also spotted with his on during a TV appearance, indicating the pair may not be ready to take that step.
