Pirates of the Caribbean 6 script ‘too weird’ – but Johnny Depp future unclear | Films | Entertainment

It’s been six years since the fifth Pirates of the Caribbean movie hit cinemas.

Johnny Depp was set to star in Pirates 6 hoping to give his Captain Jack Sparrow a proper send-off.

However, Disney dropped him from the movie following domestic abuse allegations made by the star’s now ex-wife Amber Heard, which he strongly denies.

Having won his libel case against her in the US, fans have been hoping the 60-year-old will reprise the much-loved role.

Producer Jerry Bruckheimer hasn’t revealed either way yet if the actor will be in Pirates of the Caribbean 6, but there’s some exciting news about the script.

Craig Mazin has been working on a sixth outing with Ted Elliott, who was a writer on the first four Pirates movies.

Speaking with the LA Times, Mazin said of Pirates of the Caribbean 6: “We pitched it and thought there’s no way they’re buying it, it’s too weird. And they did!

“And then he wrote a fantastic script and the strike happened and everyone’s waiting around.”

No word yet on if Depp will return as Captain Jack Sparrow. And during his libel case, he made it clear that he wouldn’t return even for hundreds of millions of dollars.

However, time can heal so maybe the star can be convinced for the sake of the fans who love his swashbuckling character?
