Packers assistant Rich Bisaccia taunts ‘How ’bout them Cowboys’ after defeating his former team

Rich Bisaccia, the assistant head coach and special teams coordinator with the Cowboys from 2013-17, seemed to enjoy the moment after the Packers — where he now holds the same title — handed his former team another playoff disappointment.

As Bisaccia walked toward the locker room following the Packers’ 48-32 win, he shouted, “How ‘bout them Cowboys,” according to a video from WFRV — turning the line, which became popular after former Cowboys head coach and current Fox analyst Jimmy Johnson used it in a 1993 locker room speech, into a fitting taunt.

The Packers cruised past the Cowboys in their wild-card matchup, building a 27-7 halftime lead behind two Aaron Jones touchdowns, with one rushing and one receiving, and a Dak Prescott pick-six.

Dallas tried to mount a comeback, even making it a two-possession game with 3:25 remaining, but the Cowboys turned it over on downs to end their final drive.

It marked their latest early exit in the playoffs.

They haven’t advanced to the NFC Championship game since 1995, which was two years after Johnson’s Cowboys phrase originated.

Bisaccia worked for the Cowboys — and experienced two postseason exits in the divisional round — before taking the same job with the Raiders for the 2018 season, and in 2021, after Jon Gruden was fired, he became their interim head coach.

He ended up leading them to the playoffs that year, going 7-5 and nearly winning their wild-card game against the Bengals, but owner Mark Davis opted to hire former Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels instead of removing the interim tag from Bisaccia — even though the Raiders’ players reportedly wanted Bisaccia to return.

So Bisaccia ended up with the Packers on head coach Mike LaFleur’s staff.

In his first season with the team, Green Bay missed the playoffs as the Aaron Rodgers era ended, but in 2023, the Packers won six of their final eight games to close the regular season and will face the 49ers on Saturday in the divisional round.

It was a stunning upset in the first round of the postseason.

It might prompt Cowboys owner Jerry Jones to fire Mike McCarthy and move in a different direction as their quest for a return to the Super Bowl — or even the conference championship game — continues.

But Bisaccia made sure to add one final jab before the Packers left AT&T Stadium.
