Man charged over alleged plot to kidnap and murder Holly Willougby | Celebrity News | Showbiz & TV

A man has been charged over an alleged plot to kidnap and murder This Morning star Holly Willougby.

Gavin Plumb, 36, is accused of soliciting to commit murder and incitement to commit kidnap, Essex Police have confirmed to Express.co.uk

He will appear at Chelmsford Magistrates Court today after he was held by officers on Wednesday.

ITV host Holly, 42, was forced to pull out of hosting This Morning yesterday, with Alison Hammond stepping in seemingly at the last minute to replace her.

Detective Superintendent Rob Kirby said: “This was an extremely fast-paced investigation, with many of our officers and national partners working overnight to secure these charges.

“The safeguarding of any victim is paramount and we will continue to prioritise this as the investigation proceeds.”

It is now believed guards are surrounding her London home, which she shares with her husband and three children, to keep her safe.

“Distraught” Holly was said to have been told about the plot shortly before going live on This Morning.

Holly’s friends have rallied around her following the ordeal, with Lorraine Kelly describing the alleged incident as “very upsetting”.

“That’s a horrible thing for her to be going through and of course we send Holly and her family our best wishes,” she said.

Co-presenters Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary also sent their best wishes, saying: “We’re obviously all shocked to hear the news and want to send our love and biggest hugs to Holly.”

This must have been a terrible ordeal for Holly and her TV producer husband Daniel Baldwin, who had been planning to celebrate his 49th birthday with their family before the dramatic turn of events.

The pair also share three young children: Harry, 14, Belle, 12, and Chester, eight.
