Lorraine Kelly defended by former co-star after ‘awkward’ Norah Jones interview | Celebrity News | Showbiz & TV


 

ITV presenter Lorraine Kelly has been praised by her viewers for what many described as a “difficult” interview with singer-songwriter Norah Jones today. The journalist’s colleague, Martel Maxwell, was one of many to come to her defence following the “awkward” chat. 

Taking to X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, Homes Under the Hammer star Martel waded into the conversation in view of her 13,700 followers. Sharing an article about the “cringe” interview from this morning, Martel applauded Lorraine for being “an utter pro”. 

She wrote: “Norah was awkward – but you never know the day someone’s having. BUT this is what makes @reallorraine the best. 

“I’ve been beside her so many times on her show. She makes it all look easy – and that’s the hardest thing to do. 

“She’s the journalist’s presenter,” Martel, who has regularly appeared as an entertainment guest on Lorraine, added proudly. “She’s an utter pro.”

Come Away with Me singer Norah sat down with Lorraine today to promote her new album Visions.

While the star did open up about her plans to tour, as well as her “side hobby” of pottery, fans suggested the answers she gave to Lorraine’s questions were “short”. 

Other viewers on X also described the interview as “hard work” and “tough”, congratulating Lorraine for her perseverance. 

One person wrote: “Lorraine fighting for her life there trying to get Norah to talk.”

 

While another penned: “Poor Lorraine. That was a tough interview with [Norah] and her 2-word answers!”

One more commented: “Wow this interview looks like hard work for Lorraine. [Norah giving] one-word answers and short sentences comes across like she does not even want to be really interviewed.”

As a fourth tweeted: “Embarrassingly hard work for [Lorraine] interviewing [Norah] But like the pro she is Lorraine managed to stretch it out.”
