Loose Women star Charlene White’s mugging horror leaving stranger ‘crying’ | Celebrity News | Showbiz & TV

Charlene White rushed to the aid of a stranger after she witnessed their phone being stolen.

The Loose Women host detailed the moment on the ITV News special London Mayor debate where the presenter told Sadiq Khan about the incident as she questioned him about combating crime in London.

Speaking to the four mayoral candidates during tonight’s programme, Charlene said: “I saw an older lady who was a victim of crime outside of Waterloo Station early this morning and had to help her because her phone got stolen by muggers.”

Her comments came after the 43-year-old took to X, formerly Twitter, and shared her horror earlier today.

The ITV News host recalled: “You know when you know immediately something’s off? Spotted 2 kids on too-big for them bikes. Then saw the balaclavas. *Knew* they were robbing phones. 20secs later a scream. They’d grabbed a commuter’s phone. Really, really annoyed I didn’t follow my instincts and take a pic.”

In a follow-up post, Charlene tweeted: “The victim, and older lady, was shook up and crying. I called the police and they arrived super quick. Turns out the pair have been at it all morning, so police have been chasing them round that part of London. REALLY wish I’d taken the damn picture. Grrrrr.”(sic)

She added: “Obvs very picky thieves as they took another commuters phone, looked at it, then threw it on the floor.”(sic)

Charlene was later joined by London Mayor Sadiq Khan and his three main rivals Susan Hall for the Conservatives, Rob Blackie for the Lib Dems and Zoë Garbett for the Green Party.

They appeared side-by-side during a special live debate hosted by the news broadcaster in Clerkenwell, central London.

The May election will be held using the first-past-the-post system for the first time, meaning voters will no longer be able to vote for a second preference candidate.

The election for the Mayor of London is held on Thursday 2 May, when elections to the London Assembly and some local council elections will also be held.

Results are expected to be confirmed the weekend of May 4.
