Joe Biden’s asleep at the national-security wheel and Americans will die

As if in grim confirmation of all the worst fears summoned up by President Biden’s total public collapse Thursday night, now US military bases in Europe are living under terrorist threat.

Sunday saw a slate of bases — including the Army garrison in Stuttgart, Germany, that serves as the seat of the US European Command — raised to the second-highest terror level issued by the Army.

That only happens when intel regards an attack as “likely,” per the Army’s alert policy.

Nothing like the sight of the commander in chief of America’s forces staring vacantly into a camera (and forgetting about the 16 US soldiers who’ve died on his watch) to embolden the nation’s enemies.

But as disastrous as Biden’s debate performance was, it may not even have been the proximate cause of this new security threat.

No: His record is more than enough for that.

He humiliated himself trying to entice Iran back into a nuclear deal, did nothing meaningful when their proxy forces struck American assets and killed American soldiers and seemingly sided with Tehran after Hamas’ Oct. 7 atrocities.

And he’s failed to seriously push Hamas to release the five US citizens it’s held since that day.

Hard to imagine a clearer invitation to mayhem from bad actors than that.

Even on American soil, the Biden administration seems not to care

In May, two Jordanian nationals (one of whom reportedly illegally crossed the border) tried to ram a box truck through the gates of the Quantico Marine Corps base in Virginia.

The Biden response? Have Homeland Security chief Alejandro Mayorkas block multiple requests for further info

Don’t forget the eight, count ‘em eight Tajik nationals — people from a country that is an utter hotbed of ISIS activity — arrested in a terror plot in June; at least one had illegally crossed the border and been waved on by feds.

And Biden’s cowering before China. And his dithering on Ukraine. And on and on and on.

Even if the phone call comes in during the 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. window when aides say he’s functional, Biden’s national-security judgment stinks.

And his now-undeniable dementia the rest of the day and night is an open invitation to America’s enemies: It’s only a matter of time before more American lives are lost on his watch.

Is it supposed to be OK because he’ll forget them, too?
