Jo Koy reacts to Golden Globes hosting blunder: ‘It’s a tough room’

The Golden Globe for the most awkward award-show host goes to …

A “hurt” Jo Koy appeared to be licking his wounds while appearing on “GMA3” Monday after he hosted the 81st annual Golden Globe Awards on Sunday.

“I had fun. You know, it was a moment that I’ll always remember. It’s a tough room,” Koy, 52, said while appearing on the daytime news program. “It was a hard job, I’m not going to lie.”

“I’d be lying if [I said] it doesn’t hurt…Hosting is just a tough gig,” continued the comedian. “Yes, I’m a stand-up comic, but that hosting position, it’s a different style.”

When asked if there was a specific moment that he regrets the most, Koy said that his joke about Taylor Swift and the NFL was definitely one of the jokes that fell flat.

“I think it was when the Taylor [Swift] one was just a little flat,” he said. “It was a weird joke, I guess.”

“But it was more on the NFL… I was trying to make fun of the NFL using cutaways and how the Globes didn’t have to do that,” Koy explained, referring to how the league has developed a fascination with the singer.

“So it was more of a jab toward the NFL. But it just didn’t come out that way,” Koy admitted.

The joke in question came during Koy’s nearly six-and-a-half minute opening monologue where the “Easter Sunday” star said: “The big difference between the Golden Globes and the NFL is that at the Golden Globes, we have fewer camera shots of Taylor Swift.”

While delivering the punchline, the broadcast cut to the “Cruel Summer” singer, 34, who was giving Koy a death stare.

This was not the host’s only blunder of the evening.

Koy — hired by the awards show a mere 10 days before the ceremony after several celebrities backed out — blamed the writers for the jokes that failed to get a laugh.

“Yo, I got the gig 10 days ago,” the comic said. “You want a perfect monologue? Yo, shut up. I wrote some of these, and those are the ones you’re gonna laugh at.”

“Like I said, I didn’t write all of these,” he went on. “Someone else wrote that one.”The comment also seemed to piss odd several of the singer’s legions of fans who immediately hopped on social media to denounce the funnyman.

“Congrats you pissed off the most intense fandom. Enjoy your snakes,” one fan commented on his Instagram.

“Unnecessary rude joke about TS. JUST not nice! Being a host doesn’t mean insulting people. It’s not a roast. There are classy ways to go about things,” wrote another.

“Absolute deadly glare from Taylor Swift at Jo Koy’s football joke was all of us right now,” another fan posted on X (formerly Twitter.)
