Jennifer Aniston wants fans to ‘celebrate’ Matthew Perry after his death

Jennifer Aniston remembered her “Friends” co-star Matthew Perry while attending the 2024 Critics’ Choice Awards on Sunday, less than three months after his death.

“The Morning Show” actress, 54, was asked how she hopes Perry’s fans continue to honor his legacy by Entertainment Tonight.

“[To] celebrate him,” she said on the red carpet in Santa Monica, California.

Perry died on Oct. 28 after he drowned in the hot tub at his L.A. home. He was 54.

His death was due to “acute effects of ketamine” and the manner was accidental drowning, according to his autopsy report.

The report noted that Perry was undergoing ketamine infusion therapy to treat depression and drug addiction, which may have been accompanied by a prescription for the drug — or he could have obtained it illegally. However, the medical examiner noted that the amount found in Perry’s system could not have been from his final infusion treatment a week and a half before his death.

Pathologist Dr. Michael Baden explained to The Post: “He essentially died from an overdose of ketamine and had about three times the normal [dosage] amount in his system.”

The “Fools Rush In” star famously battled with drug addiction throughout his life, but claimed to be sober for 19 months before his death.

Aniston discussed Perry’s passing with Variety in December, and said she texted with him the morning of his death.

“He was not in pain. He wasn’t struggling. He was happy,” she told Variety through tears.

“He was healthy. He had quit smoking. He was getting in shape. He was happy — that’s all I know.”

The “Horrible Bosses” star continued, “I want people to know he was really healthy, and getting healthy. He was on a pursuit. He worked so hard. He really was dealt a tough one. I miss him dearly. We all do. Boy, he made us laugh really hard.”

Last week, Aniston appeared to lean on pals in the industry as she attended the Golden Globes at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in L.A.

“We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just cast mates. We are a family,” read the statement, which was issued on Oct. 30. “There is so much to say, but right now we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss.”

“In time we will say more, as and when we are able,” it continued. “For now, our thoughts and our love are with Matty’s family, his friends, and everyone who loved him around the world.”

Perry was laid to rest at Forest Lawn Church of the Hills in Los Angeles on Nov. 3.
