Jay Slater’s family ‘heartbroken’ and desperate for answers | World | News

But today, the Spanish Civil Guard announced that the search for Jay was being called off. They said the case would remain open and the investigation would continue, but there would not be an active search for the missing teen.

The decision to call off the search has left Jay’s parents and family “heartbroken and devastated”, a family source told the Sun today.

They said parents Debbie, Warren and brother Zak – who are all still in Tenerife – are feeling a “sense of bewilderment”.

His family were said to be “dreading” waking up to the search being called off as the source called it a “nightmare scenario”.

The devastated family is still yet to get any answers on what happened to the 19-year-old – who has not been seen or heard from since June 17.

They were left “blindsided” by the speed at which the decision to end the search was made.

But close family friend Rachel Hargreaves, who has joined them in Tenerife, said: “Nothing has changed. We will continue to search for him.”
