J.D. Martinez scratched from Mets lineup with ankle injury

The Mets will be without two of their top bats for the second game of their series against the Nationals.

J.D. Martinez joined Brandon Nimmo as absent from the Mets’ lineup Tuesday night due to a sore left ankle, the team announced after scratching the veteran designated hitter.

Nimmo will miss his second straight game after taking a spill in the hotel shower on Monday that left him with a cut on his head.

Luis Torrens replaced Martinez, who hit a key three-run homer in Monday’s win, in the DH spot.

Jeff McNeil will play left field with Nimmo sitting out again.
