ITV’s General Election coverage halted as Angela Rayner forced to apologise | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

Angela Rayner was forced to apologise as she brought ITV‘s coverage of the General Election to a sudden halt.

Tom Bradby, who anchored election nights in 2015, 2017 and 2019, was joined by George Osborne, Nicola Sturgeon and Ed Balls to deliver the 2024 results to viewers.

During the programme, Bradby spoke to Deputy Leader of the Labour Party Rayner, who was live from Manchester. With Labour on track to win 410 seats and the Conservatives just 131, the 44-year-old is looking ahead to a Labour government.

Rayner said: “Hopefully we can go forward now and turn the page on the chaos and the decline that we’ve seen under the Conservatives.”

Just as the politician finished speaking, she was forced to take action as it began pouring in Manchester. Leaning over to grab an umbrella, Rayner told viewers: “Just leaning over to get a brolly, sorry.”

As she shielded herself with the blue umbrella, Bradby declared: “That’s quite alright! We wouldn’t want you getting wet.”

Not letting the weather ruin her mood, Rayner laughed: “It’s Manchester!”
