Hunter Biden’s delusions of grandeur are healthier than ever

Like with many addicts in recovery, Hunter Biden’s sobriety may be a day-to-day struggle.

But his sense of himself and delusions of grandeur have never been stronger.

The first son now believes the fate of American democracy is resting on his shoulders: If he can just stay clean, Donald Trump will be kept from winning a second term in the Oval Office.

“I have something much bigger than even myself at stake. We are in the middle of a fight for the future of democracy,” Hunter told Axios.

“Most importantly, you have to believe that you’re worth the work, or you’ll never be able to get sober. But I often do think of the profound consequences of failure here.”

Through the hazy lens of narcissism, Hunter views himself as both a victim and a Marvel superhero -—clean living and democracy giving — who can save our country so long as he avoids his kryptonite: the crack rock.

The sheer absurdity. Hunter is living in a fantasy world of his own making.

I sincerely hope he remains clean and sober — through this election cycle and for the rest of his life.

I also hope he kicks his hopeless addiction to playing the victim.

His theory posits that he, Soberman, is President Biden’s lone Achilles heel.

Never mind his father’s historically low approval ratings fueled by inflation, an open Southern border, an ever mushrooming migrant crisis and Joe’s own mental acuity and sharpness being ravaged by Father Time.

Slips, falls and mental stumbles have come to define the Biden administration as of late. The president needs no help from his 54-year-old scandal-prone son.

But the Bidens are a savvy political clan.

On Wednesday, Hunter will be questioned in private by the GOP-led House Oversight and Judiciary committee over accusations of influence peddling — using the Biden name to enrich himself — and his family members. He also faces numerous charges including federal tax evasion and a firearms indictment.

But this latest interview is Hunter’s way of using his disease as a shield: avoiding accountability for his alleged shady business dealings and, at the same time, garnering sympathy for his very well-documented substance abuse challenges.

Axios has given him a big time assist by saying “conservative tabloids” have “relished documenting Hunter’s alcohol and drug addictions.”

But what about the self-inflicted wound — leaving a trove of incriminating photos and emails behind in a laptop repair shop?

Or the enabling?

The Bidens have all pitched in to obfuscate Hunter’s bad behavior by claiming the right is lobbing ad hominem attacks at a poor addict, rather than raising legitimate questions about questionable business relationships.

Hunter Biden’s struggles with drug addiction have been well documented because he left behind a treasure trove of photos on his abandoned laptop.

“I think what they are doing to Hunter is cruel,” First Lady Jill Biden told MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski of Republicans. “And I’m really proud of how Hunter has rebuilt his life after addiction. You know, I love my son and it’s had — it’s hurt my grandchildren. And that’s what I’m so concerned about, that it’s affecting their lives as well.”

But it begs the question: If Hunter was such a drugging, boozing liability, why didn’t anyone in his family point this out when he was on the board of Ukraine energy giant Burisma?

No one took away his proverbial keys and said, “Sleep this off, guy.” Was there any concern that a man in his state wouldn’t be making clear-headed decisions that passed the corruption smell test?

The same interview notes that Hunter swore in federal court that he’s been sober since June 2019 — which does little to bolster his character considering his shoddy treatment of his illegitimate daughter, Navy, in the years after.

The reality is, most Americans have great sympathy when it comes to the brutal disease of addiction.

Our country is still reeling from an opioid crisis that has decimated entire communities, and we’re seeing fatal overdoses skyrocket as fentanyl flows like a toxic river over the Southern border.

What most people resent is a highly connected political machine wielding addiction to distract and absolve their loved one from legal consequences.
