Pharrell Williams goes viral after he’s recorded during a powerful moment giving an aspiring artist life advice to live by.
We’ve all heard the old saying “Don’t meet your idols” because the majority of the time it results in heartbreak. What you see on social media in their art sometimes isn’t who they are. However, sometimes you can meet your idol and it can change your life forever. At the very least it can motivate you in ways that can’t be explained.
According to Complex, one artist crossed paths with Pharrell Williams who gave him a speech that will motivate him for a lifetime.
“Don’t take it personal,” Pharrell said. “Take note, and take care of it. Never be emotional. When somebody dies, that’s different. Baby coming into the world, that’s different. But none of this sh*t is worth you ever being emotional. All it’s ever gonna do is alter your decision-making, slow you down, eat up unnecessary bandwidth that could be contributing to your momentum. Don’t take it personal.”
Along with reminding the young man the material nature of creating doesn’t matter he paints a very vivid picture. The Louis Vuitton designer reminded him 400 years ago being able to chase your dreams wasn’t an option.
“Take note, take it serious, and take care of it. Don’t be emotional. For what? You know how blessed you are? You know where you would be 400 years ago? You’re floating. Nice Rolex. Tell them to go find the game. Don’t play with you.”
The video was recorded by the popular fashion-related Instagram account @ThePeopleGallery_. At the end of the day, the best thing to do is breathe and maintain a good perspective. Also, we all know that sounds generic but hearing it from Pharrell while in Paris hits differently. Not to mention having it documented to play back whenever you need it is priceless.
