Fern Britton makes TV return as Countryfile star shares off-camera moment | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

It looks as though BBC viewers could be seeing Fern Britton on their screens very soon. The 66-year-old is set to be making an appearance on Songs of Praise with host Sean Fletcher.

Taking to Instagram to share their time together, the Good Morning Britain star shared a snap of him next to Fern. Posing a gorgeous sea landscape behind them, Sean uploaded the image on his Instagram story.

He wrote: “Filming #songsofpraise @bbcone with the lovely @fernbritton in the Cornish sun (and a fair few clouds too). Sean is seen beaming at the camera in a blue jumper with a red raincoat on top.

Fern gave a puzzled-looking expression with a finger on her mouth as she wore a green parka coat with a blue scarf to keep her warm. Standing on some greenery, Sean’s followers were able to see cliffs behind them overlooking the blue sea.

BBC’s Songs of Praise is a religious programme where people of faith gather to sing hymns and other religious music across the UK. Fern has been open about her beliefs in the past as she took to Twitter in 2023 to reveal she’s started attending church again.

She wrote: “I have returned to regular church going. Before, my excuse was too busy.

“I don’t need church to think about my faith. I need me time! As it turns out, an hour on a Sunday thinking about the mystery of my faith is all the me time I needed.”

Fern has been a staple of British Television for decades as she used to front This Morning alongside Phillip Schofield up until 2009.

Recently, she thrilled ITV viewers when she entered the Celebrity Big Brother house earlier this year when she finished in 5th place.

Speaking about her decision to enter the show, with the new This Morning hosts Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley, Fern explained she wanted an adventure.

She confessed: “I haven’t had an adventure for a little while and you know how sometimes you need to challenge yourself.

“I quite like feeling uncomfortable sometimes and I thought, ‘Well I’d give it a go’”.

Following her success on the show, an insider told Bella magazine that Fern is planning a major TV comeback.

They said: “She’s desperate to do her own chat show and is already in talks with TV networks. Celebrity Big Brother has done her the world of good.

“The public forgot how likeable she is, but the show has given her that new lease of life.

“It’s no secret she was treated badly before, and it put her off doing TV again, but now she feels ready to be back on screens.”

Celebrity Big Brother is available to watch on ITVX.
