Defense made Bills’ lives miserable

Grading the Jets’ 22-16 overtime win against the Bills on Monday night.

Offense

The Jets were dealt a brutal blow when QB Aaron Rodgers (0-for-1) was lost to a potential season-ending injury four plays into the game.

But the offense did not fall apart.

QB Zach Wilson (14 of 21, 140 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT, 81.4 QB rating) played well enough to rally the Jets late.

RB Breece Hall (10 carries, 127 yards) broke an 83-yard run and had a strong return from his ACL injury.

WR Garrett Wilson did not put up huge numbers (5 catches, 34 yards, 1 TD) but made an amazing catch to tie the game in the fourth quarter.

Defense

The defense kept the Jets in the game as the offense recalibrated without Rodgers.

Bills QB Josh Allen (29 of 41, 236 yards, 1 TD, 3 INT, 1 fumble) had a terrible game and the Jets’ defense never let him get comfortable.

Safety Jordan Whitehead intercepted Allen three times.

The Jets sacked Allen five times.

The Bills did not have a rushing play of more than 14 yards and the running game was kept in check.

Stefon Diggs (10 catches, 102 yards, 1 TD) did some damage but did not have a play longer than 18 yards.

Coaching

Robert Saleh’s team could have fallen apart after the injury to Rodgers.

Instead, they rallied to beat their division rivals in overtime in incredible fashion.

The coaches deserve credit for keeping the team together and focused instead of crumbling.

The defense was outstanding and coordinator Jeff Ulbrich dialed up all the right defenses against Allen.
