Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins line-up from shamed Matt Hancock to Pop Idol star | Celebrity News | Showbiz & TV

In the hotly anticipated series of Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins 16 celebrities will be put through their paces as they embark on what will be one of the biggest challenges they have faced.

The gruelling reality competition will return on Channel 4 on September 26 as this year’s cast includes pop stars and reality TV stars.

The brand new fifth series of Celeb SAS will see the celebrities be stripped of their normal lives as they attempt to survive in the most challenging of environments – the jungle in North Vietnam – while being put through a number of gruelling tasks by SAS-trained officers.

Matt Hancock will be taking part alongside The Only Way Is Essex’s James ‘Arg’ Argent former Love Island star Teddy Soares, Michelle Heaton from Liberty X, singer Gareth Gates, former glamour model Melinda Messenger, former footballer Jermaine Pennant and rugby star Gareth Thomas among others.

Matt Hancock, 44, Former Health Secretary

The disgraced politician has returned to screens following his stint on ITV’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! last year.

Matt has tried to win over the public despite the backlash he received about appearing on the ITV show.

The West Suffolk MP said: “Being on SAS was like nothing else I’ve ever experienced. It’s one of the toughest physical and mental things I’ve ever done. It really opens your eyes and makes you look into yourself.”

He added: “After coming through the most challenging period as Health Secretary during the pandemic, I wanted to push my limits. It’s safe to say the course tested my resilience!”

Gareth Gates, 39, Pop Idol runner-up

The singer rose to fame back in 2002 when he took part in the reality series Pop Idol – the show’s first-ever series.

Gareth went on to sell over 3.5 million records and star in West End musicals including Les Miserables and in 2008, he competed in Dancing on Ice and finished in fourth place.

Ahead of the series, he gushed: “Wow, this was an experience like no other. I learnt very quickly that there is a difference between being gym fit and battle fit. I was so looking forward to doing this show, to test myself, to see what courage, grit and determination I really had.

“I would encourage anyone who wants one of the ultimate, physical and mental challenges to give this a go. It was an amazing, brutal, unique experience!”
