Carol Vorderman to shake up Steph’s Packed Lunch as she steps in to guest present | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

Former Countdown star Carol Vorderman will step in to replace Steph McGovern on her Channel 4 talk show this week.

On Wednesday, September 13 Carol will be broadcasting life from Leeds Dock from midday to 2.10pm.

She will be stepping foot back into the city that was her Countdown home from 1982 to 2008.

During the episode, Carol will be joined by Ryan Thomas and Sayeeda Warsi to discuss the day’s top stories, while Simon Rimmer will be cooking up a storm in the kitchen.

Viewers will also be treated to lifestyle and consumer stories as well as celebrity guests, real-life features and the latest consumer news.

Speaking ahead of her stint on the show, Carol said: “It will be 41 years to the month from when, at Yorkshire TV Studios in Leeds, I recorded my first ever TV show.

“The first-ever Countdown, which became the first ever TV programme on Channel 4 back in 1982.

“I lived in Lucky Leeds for very many years and went there for about four months a year for 26 years altogether.

“Mum and I always called it Lucky Leeds and it holds only utter love and happy memories, so hosting Steph’s Packed Lunch will be a wonderful closing of a circle.

“To be back in Leeds, hosting a Channel 4 show, and then handing over to Countdown… just a joy. I just hope I don’t burst into tears remembering all those times with Richard Whiteley.”

Carol has been causing a storm recently after having several arguments on X, formerly known as Twitter, with Tory MPs.

She recently came out and revealed she isn’t bothered by the criticism she has faced and that it’s “fine” if she loses jobs as a result.

Carol told The Times: “It doesn’t bother me… I’ll tell you why. I’m knocking on 63. I’ve made my money. I’ve been through it all.

“What’s the worst that can happen? That I’ll lose some jobs? Fine by me. Bring it on. They can sling what they like at me.

“Every day, people of all ages come up to me and shake my hand and say, ‘I bloody love what you do’.”

Steph’s Packed Lunch airs weekdays from 12pm on Channel 4.
