A Place in the Sun fans issue same complaint over Spanish home’s strange feature | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

A Place in the Sun fans were distracted today by an unusual feature on the Channel 4 show today as the soon-to-be homeowners “fell in love”.

The popular show was back for another instalment of the new series as property expert Lee Juggurnauth headed to Denia in Spain to help restaurant manager Aykan and engineering company manager Cathy from Wicklow find their dream home in the sun. They first visited Spain a couple of years ago and fell instantly in love with the relaxed lifestyle.

Now that their children are all grown up, they’re ready to take the plunge and buy their dream holiday home, with a maximum budget of £205,000, which hopefully could be a permanent home in the future.

The couple asked the Channel 4 host to find them a home with a minimum of two bedrooms and bathrooms. They wanted a communal pool and lots of outdoor space too, with local amenities no more than a 10-minute walk away.

The search got off to a rocky start, but it seems it was third time lucky as Lee said the couple “couldn’t say no” to what he was showing them. It was a three-bedroom Golf Course House in Oliva Nova Golf, on the market for £188,793.

After viewing the property, Aykan said: “So many pluses, so many boxes ticked. It’s definitely a contender for us.”

The fourth property also impressed the couple – despite fans picking up on an “inexplicable” feature. The four-bedroom modern and bright home boasted a spacious living room, but it had a random washing machine in the corner.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter) viewers joked about the unusual choice of putting the washing machine in the living room. One user said: “Some lovely modern touches. Like the washing machine in the lounge. #aplaceinthesun.”

Another wrote: “So much space but the washing machine is inexplicably in the living room #aplaceinthesun.” A third asked: ” Who puts a washing machine in the living room? #aplaceinthesun.”

It seems the couple didn’t notice, or didn’t care, about the white goods applicance being homed in their living space as they said that they “loved” the home and it was definitely a contender. The home had communal pools, a good sized garden and a terrace at the front of the duplex with another terrace off the upstairs living room.

It was on the market for £204,741. Ultimately the couple decided not to offer on any of the five properties.

A Place in the Sun airs weekdays at 3pm on Channel 4
