A Place in the Sun buyer apologises after emotional moment | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

Emotions were at an all-time high when A Place in the Sun’s Ben Hillman was showing couple Mark and Candy some properties in Almería Spain.

With a budget of £77,000, they were hoping for a three-bed home with traditional features. With Mark working in construction, they told the Channel 4 star they weren’t opposed to putting some work into a property if it needed a little updating.

However, the property expert seemed to find a place that required a bit more sprucing up than Mark and Candy had wanted.

Taking them to the second home during their search, it was clear Candy wasn’t impressed. She confessed: “I’m just not feeling this at all.”

Ben replied: “I understood you incorrectly. I know you said a project is fine and the fact you are a builder as well. Have I run away with that?”

Admitting that he had slightly got a bit carried away with the extent to which they wanted to renovate. Candy added: “I’m finding that a little bit more daunting, the level of renovations so maybe we’ve not made it entirely clear?”

She explained to Ben that they wouldn’t mind doing up one or two rooms, but she confessed the state the home was in was quite daunting.

Highlighting they weren’t keen on the home, Candy started to get emotional as Ben questioned what had upset her as he asked: “It’s not what you’re imagining, not what you’re hoping for. This is a project too far, is it?

She replied: “It is, I’m sorry.” Assuring Candy she had nothing to apologise for, he explained the process was all to ensure they found their perfect home.

It seemed the tears didn’t end there as the third property blew them away with Mark getting overwhelmed. Seeing the beaming smile on Candy’s face as she confessed how much she loved the property, Mark said: “I’m getting emotional now! It’s lovely.”

At the end of the episode, viewers saw Mark and Candy decide to put an offer of £76,250 on the property.

As Ben put in a phone call to the estate agent, questioning whether or not the furniture was included, Mark confessed he was nervous as they awaited the call.

After a few tense moments, Ben told them the furniture could be included at the price they asked for, resulting in the couple wiping away tears of joy.
